Who is Erick Brian Colon?
American-Cuban singer Erick Brian Colon was born in Havana, Cuba under the zodiac sign Capricorn on 3 January 2001. He’s perhaps known best for having been a member of the no longer active Latin American boy band CNCO, with other members having been Joel Pimentel, Zabdiel De Jesus, Christopher Velez and Richard Camacho. The boys met when they auditioned on the show “La Banda”, and were active in the music industry from 2015 through 2023; they were quite popular, and were nominated for six Premios Juventud Youth Awards, winning five, some of which were for Favorite Fan-Army, Favorite Twitter Celebrity and Producer’s Choice. The band was also nominated for a Billboard Latin Music Award for Artist of the Year in 2017.
Education and early life
Erick and his sister Yanelis Colon were raised in Cuba by their father and mother about whom Erick avoids speaking in public as he respects their privacy; it’s known that he moved to Tampa, Florida together with his sister and mother when he was 11, but it’s widely believed that his parents divorced a couple of months before this.
Erick grew up being passionate about singing, and was eight when he began taking singing lessons. He went on to attend a local high school in Tampa, and was into various activities during his four years there, as he was a member of the school’s drama club, played basketball and ran track; Erick appeared in various school plays, often singing and dancing as the lead character, and he also considered pursuing a career in the film industry.
Upon matriculating in 2019, he chose not to go after a college degree, but to remain focused on music.
About his band CNCO
All the five boys auditioned during the first season of the singing competition show “La Banda”, which famous British TV personality and record executive Simon Cowell created, and popular Puerto Rican singer-songwriter Ricky Martin produced. The boys passed through several stages as they went on to win the show; their band was officially founded on the show’s finale on 13 December 2015, and they were given the name CNCO, with ‘cinco’ meaning ‘five’ in Spanish.
The band signed a five-year contract with Sony Music Latin, Ricky Martin became their representative, and their debut album was to be produced by popular Puerto Rican rapper Wisin.

The boys’ first song “Tan Facil” came out on 29 January 2016, and peaked at #23 on the Hot Latin Songs chart and #25 on Billboard Latin Rhythm Airplay, while it instantly topped the US iTunes Latino chart, and eventually the Latin Airplay chart. Their debut concert was held at The Miami Beach Convention Center on 30 January 2016, and they began touring around the world two weeks later, as one of the opening acts for Ricky Martin’s One World Tour.
CNCO’s second single, “Quisiera” came out on 13 May 2016, and on 26 August of the same year, their debut album “Primera Cita” was released. They released the lead song “Hey DJ” from their second album on 4 April 2017, while its second and third singles “Reggaeton Lento” and “Mamita” followed in August and October, respectively. Their second album “CNCO” came out on 6 April 2018 and was a huge success, topping Billboard Top Latin Albums and peaking at #33 on Billboard 200; the same year saw them sign a new contract with Walter Kolm Entertainment, meaning that they were no longer managed by Ricky Martin. Their new song “Se Vuelve Loca” topped the Latin Pop Songs Chart, and the band then embarked on a world tour.
CNCO’s debut extended play (EP) “Que Quienes Somos” was released on 11 October 2019, comprising seven songs, and it topped the Billboard Latin Pop Albums chart.
Their third studio album “Déjà Vu” was to be released in March 2020, however, it had to be postponed due to the outbreak of the coronavirus; it was eventually released on 5 February 2021. On 9 May of the same year, Joel Pimentel revealed that he was leaving the group, wanting to focus on his solo career.
Their final album “XOXO” came out on 26 August 2023, as they disbanded following their performance in Puerto Rico on 17 November 2023.
