What is Everlast’s Net Worth?
Everlast, an American rapper and songwriter, has a net worth of $5 million. He is best known for his work with House of Pain, a hip hop group that created the hit “Jump Around.”
Despite his early involvement in the hip hop scene, Everlast has since explored other musical genres, including latin rock. In 2000, he won a Grammy for his collaboration with Santana titled “Put Your Lights On.”
Aside from being a vocalist, Everlast can also play the piano, guitar, and turntables. He occasionally performs under the name “Whitey Ford.”
Erik Francis Schrody’s Early Years
Erik Francis Schrody, also known as Everlast, was born on August 18th, 1969, on Long Island, New York. He attended high school in the San Fernando Valley of California, where he looked up to figures such as Ice Cube and Krazy Dee, who he described as “larger than life.”
House of Pain’s Rise to Fame
Everlast began his career as a member of the Rhyme Syndicate but failed to gain much success with his solo album “Forever Everlasting.” He then teamed up with DJ Lethal and Danny Boy to form House of Pain, and their 1992 self-titled debut album contained the smash hit “Jump Around,” which led to multi-platinum sales. The album also featured collaborations with B-Real of Cypress Hill.
After their breakthrough success, House of Pain toured with established artists such as The Ramones, Beastie Boys, and Rage Against the Machine. They were also invited to collaborate on the “Judgement Night” soundtrack, and Everlast even played a villain in the film. However, the group disbanded in 1996 after only a few years of success.
Everlast’s Music Career
After the dissolution of House of Pain, Everlast returned to solo work. His second album, “Whitey Ford Sings the Blues,” was a critical and commercial success, blending rap with acoustic and electric guitars. Emotional, soulful songs like “What It’s Like” proved to be especially successful, selling over 3 million copies after its release in 1998. Everlast suffered a heart attack shortly before the album’s release.
One year later, Everlast collaborated with Santana on his album “Supernatural,” receiving a Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal in 2000. That same year, a feud erupted between him and Eminem over an incident where Eminem failed to acknowledge Everlast. The two released diss tracks targeting each other for several years before seemingly reconciling.
Everlast’s subsequent albums, “Eat at Whitey’s” and “White Trash Beautiful,” were less successful than his second. In 2006, he reunited with DJ Lethal and Danny boy to form La Coka Nostra, a hip-hop supergroup. Over the years, Everlast continued to release music and collaborate with other artists, including contributing the theme song for “Saving Grace.”
After a hiatus to deal with his daughter’s health issues, Everlast returned in 2017 and 2018 to release more music.
Everlast’s Marriage and Divorce
In 2009, Everlast tied the knot with Lisa Schrody, a former model who went by the name “Cassia Riley” in “Penthouse.” The couple welcomed two children during their relationship. However, in March 2022, Schrody filed for divorce. It is unclear whether the divorce has been finalized or if it was withdrawn.
